1. Can I choose a room? You may indicate your preferences and choose the type of room, but we choose them ourselves according to the list of place selections and the preferences marked in the application file. Existing residents will be given priority over new ones.
2. Does the residence hall provide us with the sheets and towels? If you intend to do a full-year or intermediate stay, the residence hall does not provide them and you will have to bring your own, but if you prefer, you can hire this extra service when applying for the place, as is indicated on the advance registration application form.
For daily stays (days and/or weeks), the cleaning and delivery of sheets and towels are included in the price.
3. Is there a telephone, TV and DTTV in the room? All the rooms have their own telephone connected to the building switchboard, allowing direct access to the telephone network. All incoming calls and calls between rooms within the building are free of charge. In order to make calls to the outside of the building, the resident will have to have gone to the administration office and deposited what amount he/she has deemed convenient in his/her personal account (the minimum being 5€).
The room has a TV antenna connection but it has not tv. As for TDT, this is available in the 2 TV rooms.
4. May I take a television and Hi-Fi to the room? Yes, you may bring your own radio, TV or audiovisual equipments into the room (one single appliance of each type per person), but they may only be listened to while wearing earphones or at a volume one’s roommate or neighbouring resident may not hear.
5. Do the rooms have a microwave oven? Yes, in the single rooms with a shared kitchen there is as well as the double rooms, but there is no microwave oven in the single rooms that have their own kitchen.
6. May I take the RESA furniture I do not intend to use out of the room? Since there is furniture, dishes, cloths, etc. that sometimes aren´t used, you can deliver them to the reception of the residence for storage provided they have room in storage.
7. Is there a Wi-Fi connection? No, the rooms do not have a microwave oven.
8. Is there a printer in the computer room? At Reception, there is a printer connected to the hallway, with which you will be able to print a maximum of 10 pages a day. The paper will have to paid by the resident, and the residence hall supplies a maximum of 2 cartridges a month.
9. Is there a canteen in the residence hall? Yes, the residence hall has a canteen you may access directly from the interior of the building.
10. Is there any room cleaning service? Room-cleaning is included once a week in both academic year and intermediate stays.
11. Is there a waste collection service? No, each resident must take out his/her own waste to the containers outside the residence hall.
12. Does the residence hall close during the holiday periods? No, it will remain open all year long. However, the canteen closes during the holiday periods of the University.
13. On which dates and at what times may one enter the residence hall once I’ve been admitted? Any time starting the day in which the contract period begins, giving due notice to management by telephone or e-mail. If you aren´t able to communicate through those means you need to let them know by whichever way is available to you. If you desire to enter days in advance you should communicate that as well so they can accommodate, provided the availability of the room.
Is this possible at weekends? Yes, following the same conditions as the previous question.
14. May I stay at the residence hall during the Christmas and Easter holidays? Since the residence hall does not close at any moment in the year, you will be able to remain there during your whole booking period.
And during the summer holidays? As long as you give prior notice at reception and the room is available.
15.How are the monthly fees paid? By direct debit payment between the 1 and 5 of each month.
16. May a friend come over to the residence hall to study or eat? Yes, following the conditions stated in the contract and the norms of the residence. The visit should be registered with the reception upon their arrival and exit.
And may relatives or friends stay overnight in my room?Yes, under the conditions indicated in the contract and the inner rules of procedure. The visits will have to be registered upon the visitor’s arrival and when he or she leaves, and upon request and the payment of an additional bed that will be installed in your room.
17. Does the residence hall have any place where I may leave things during the summer holidays? We have storerooms where you may leave your belongings, but depend on the availability.
18. Are there any timetables for entering and leaving? No, every resident will have a key to his/her room, which also opens the entrance door of the residence hall, which means that he may enter or leave at any time.
Does the residence hall close at any time?No, it will remain open all year long.
19. Do I have to deliver the key every time I leave the residence hall or at weekends? No, you may take it with you, but you may also leave it at reception if you want.
20. How are the monthly fees paid? By direct debit payment between the 1 and 5 of each month.
21. Is the residence hall well connected with the bus station and the train station? Yes, the bus station is found some 5 minutes away from the residence hall and there is a direct bus to the RENFE at a stop 50 metres from the residence hall. (line 11)
22. Are there any sports centres nearby? Yes, the covered sports hall is in the Unamumo Campus. Also, situated located in the very same campus, the School of Oviedo has arranged sports zones for all the university community (non exclusive to the residence).
23. Are there any supermarkets near the residence hall? Yes, within a 300 yard radius around the campus are three supermarkets along with multiple other stores of all types for students.
24. Where must I go if I need health care?? If it’s an emergency there’s a hospital 200 yards from the residence. For doctor’s appointments, one must go to the Health Centre the residence hall is attached to by virtue of its location, more specifically the Centro de Salud Universidad-Centro (University Centre Health Centre), in Cuesta Sancti Spiritus (some 15 minutes from the residence hall)
25. Where is the nearest library? There are several possibilities: the Francisco de Victoria library is on the Unamuno Campus, 5 minutes from the residence hall. Closer to the central area, one can find the Abraham Zacut library (Science Department) or Santa María de los Ángeles, in Calle Libreros. They are both 10 minutes from the residence hall.
26. I’m a foreigner and have no current account number in Spain. How can I open an account from where I am? When you arrive at the residence hall, we’ll tell you about the nearby banks where you can open a current account.
27.Does the monthly fee include everything? The monthly fee includes the monthly rent (accommodation), the fixed telephone quota, the computer connection with Internet access (with the limitations of the provider company and the rules of use), the TV antenna, the satellite receiver and the use of the common areas and VAT. It does not include water, gas and electricity consumption or the hiring of optional services (cleaning of the room and delivery of sheets and towels), along with the telephone calls, which will be paid for separately.
28. Once I leave the residence hall, how long will it take for the guarantee deposit tobe returned? The guarantee deposit will be returned two months after the period of stay at the residence hall has finished.
29. May I register at the residence hall if I’m not going to study at the University of Salamanca? Students of the University of Salamanca will be given priority over other students, but students from other universities or centres may also register, as long as there are vacancies.
30. Can you guarantee that I will have a place at the residence hall if I fill in the advance registration form and I pay for the registration within the term specified? Place confirmation will be obtained once the list of admissions has been published at this website www.resa.es and at the university website www.usal.es
31. If I have made the advance registration application and have been admitted, will I be returned the registration payment if I cancel the application? No, the payment is only returned if the residence cannot assign the place requested for lack of availability or are not able to offer the type of residence requested before the start of the contract.
32. What if I should leave the residence hall mid-year and I do not stay for the 9 months (full academic year)? This will be penalised with the loss of the guarantee deposit
33. How will I know that I have been admitted? A list of those persons admitted and not admitted will be published in the website of RESA and in the web site of University of Salamanca. If you are admitted, you must fill in the advance registration application form and pay the payment on account. Besides, you will receive the letter of acceptance, along with the access codes to the users zone of the RESA website, for you to accept the accommodation contract online. In order to definitively formalise your booking, it is essential that you accept the contract online and send the documentation requested in the acceptance letter before the end of August.
34. How does the selection process work? The priorities are: belonging to the University of Salamanca, the average mark appearing on the PAU (University Access Test) card, the date of the registration deposit in the residence hall account and the type of stay (full academic year or intermediate).
For daily stays:
36.Do we have to include our credit card data in the booking? Yes, this is essential for the purposes of guaranteeing the booking and for covering possible penalties (annulments made with a term of less than 24 hours before the day of entering and damages to the facilities and goods of the residence hall).
37.Do I have to bring my own sheets and towels? No, the linen service is included in the hotel and semi-hotel bookings, as are the delivery of gel and shampoo.
38. At what time can I enter the residence hall? And when do I have to leave the room on the last day? You may enter after noon, and you will have to leave before that hour.
39. Does the residence hall have a car park of its own? No, the residence hall does not have a place for stationing one’s car. There is the option of the car park of the University on the Unamuno Campus (with the university card) or the private car park of the private car park of the Botanic Garden, with special prices for university students.
