Between the 6th and 14th July, Pamplona celebrates the most international festival in Spain, a cultural and cosmopolitan event at which history, tradition, bulls, noise, music and merriment all meet.

The San Fermines are also noted for some of their traditions: the “chupinazo”, which is the rocket thrown from the city hall balcony on the 6th at noon, before the large congregation of people in the square, waiting as they raise their scarves. Dressing in white and red, a relatively recent custom that symbolises the martyrdom of Saint Fermin, who had his throat cut. The famous “pañuelico” (red scarf) must be worn after the blasting of the “Chupinazo” rocket.  The fireworks, programmed every day at 11 pm, turns the sky of Pamplona into an exceptional pyrotechnical display. And also…the reveilles by the bagpipe players and the municipal music band of music, the running of the bulls and the corridas, the parade of giants and “kilikis” (large-headed characters), the members of the “peñas” (groups of friends) leaving the bullring, but especially, the festival in the street… ¡You and your family and/or friends must not miss this!
