1. Can I choose a room? You can specify your preferences and choose the type of room, but we choose them ourselves according to the list of place selections and the preferences marked in the application file.
2. Does the residence hall provide us with the sheets and towels? If you intend to do a full-year or intermediate stay, the residence hall does not provide them and you will have to bring your own, but if you prefer, you can hire this extra service when applying for the place, as is indicated on the advance registration application form.
For daily stays (days and/or weeks), the cleaning and delivery of sheets and towels are included in the price.
3. Is there a telephone, TV and DTTV in the room? The rooms do not have a TV but they do have a TV antenna, and the collective antenna has been adapted in such a way that DTTV can be watched in any of the rooms, which means that the resident in question will need a decoder. Every room also has a telephone.
4. May I take a television and Hi-Fi to the room? Yes, you may bring your own radio, TV or audiovisual equipments into the room (one single appliance of each type per person), but they may only be listened to while wearing earphones or at a volume one’s roommate or neighbouring resident may not hear.
5. Do the rooms have a microwave oven? There are only microwave ovens in the single rooms with a shared kitchen and in the double rooms. Single rooms do not have a microwave oven.
6. May I take the RESA furniture I do not intend to use out of the room? No.
7. Is there a Wi-Fi connection? No, we have a broadband connection at the residence hall. You can have Internet acces in your room.
8. Is there a printer in the computer room? Yes. On the first working day of each month, we place an ink cartridge in the printer; the resident must bring his/her own paper. The computer room is always available; to access it, one need only ask for the key at reception.
9. Is there a canteen in the residence hall? Since all rooms are equipped with their own kitchen, we do not have a canteen service.
10. Is there any room cleaning service? Each resident will have to clean the room, but if you prefer, you can hire this extra service.For daily stays (days and/or weeks), the cleaning and delivery of sheets and towels are included in the price.
11. Is there a waste collection service? No, each resident must take out his/her own waste to the containers outside the residence hall.
12. Does the residence hall close during the holiday periods? No, it will remain open all year long.
13. On which dates and at what times may one enter the residence hall once I’ve been admitted? Once you have been admitted, you will have to contact the management of the residence hall and arrange a date for coming. This will have to be from Monday to Friday during office hours.
Once you have been given the keys to your room, you may enter any day and any hour.
Is this possible at weekends? No, the first time you enter the residence hall, will have to be from Monday to Friday.
14. May I stay at the residence hall during the Christmas and Easter holidays? Since the residence hall does not close at any moment in the year, you will be able to remain there during your whole booking period.
And during the summer holidays? Yes, this will require giving prior notice to the management and extending the duration of the stay.
15. What is the accommodation offer and how can I apply for it? The accommodation offer is a university grant for students meeting certain requirements. Students will have to apply for the accommodation offer jointly with that of the residence hall place, and for this purpose, they will have to present the same documents demanded at the announcement. Should the student not be interested in this offer, he/she will have to specify this in the advance registration form.
16. May a friend come over to the residence hall to study or eat? Yes, in accordance with the visits regime contemplated in the inner rules.
And may relatives or friends stay overnight in my room? In accordance with the rules, no visitor may remain within the residence hall after midnight. However, on an exceptional basis, and for justified reasons, the resident will be entitled to request authorisation from the management, as much as this is possible, for the installation of an additional bed for an occasional companion, who will have to be of legal age, pay the amount established for the purpose and not remain within the residence hall for more than seven days a year.
17. Does the residence hall have any place where I may leave things during the summer holidays? No, at the end of the contract, you will have to remove all your belongings from the room.
18. Are there any timetables for entering and leaving? Does the residence hall close at any time? Residents have no restrictions for the time they may leave or enter the residence hall. Each resident has a key to the entrance door of the residence hall and another key to his/her room, so it will be possible to enter and leave at one’s convenience.
19. Do I have to deliver the key every time I leave the residence hall or at weekends? No, you may take it with you, but you may also leave it at reception if you want.
20. Are there university canteens near the residence hall? Yes, there are several university departments nearby and they have canteens.
21. Is the residence hall well connected with the bus station and the train station? There are lines c15 (train station) and 8, which work the whole week. Besides, during the teaching period, the U1 and U2 shuttle buses are also active. The latter passes by the bus station.
22. Are there any sports centres nearby? Yes, the sports centre of the university and the sports centre managed by Gaia. You may go to this link www.deportesuvigo.es and www.gaigd.com
23. Are there any supermarkets near the residence hall? There is a food store in the shopping area.
24. Where must I go if I need health care? To a health care centre, where you must request to be treated by a doctor for the displaced. More information in www.sergas.eswww.uvigo.es at the department of Cultural Expansion and Students.
25. Where is the nearest library? You will find the Central Library five minutes from the residence hall on foot.
26. I’m a foreigner and have no current account number in Spain. How can I open an account from where I am? When you arrive at the residence hall, we’ll tell you about the nearby banks where you can open a current account.
27.Does the monthly fee include everything? Includes accommodation, computer connection with Internet access, telephone line (incoming calls and internal calls) and VAT. It does not include water and electricity consumption or the hiring of optional services (cleaning of the room and delivery of sheets and towels), along with the telephone calls, which will be paid for separately.
28. Once I leave the residence hall, how long will it take for the bond to be returned? Within two months after the resident’s stay at the residence hall is over.
29.May I register at the residence hall if I’m not going to study at the University of Vigo? Students of the University of Vigo will be given priority over other students, but students from other universities or centres may also register, as long as there are vacancies.
30. Can you guarantee that I will have a place at the residence hall if I fill in the advance registration form and I pay for the registration within the term specified? No, the place will be given by the University of Vigo according to the requirements of the Announcement and it is therefore up to them to decide and create the list of admissions.
31. If I have made the advance registration application and have been admitted, will I be returned the registration payment if I cancel the application? No, the registration payment will only be returned in the events especified at the registration conditions.
32. What if I should leave the residence hall mid-year and I do not stay for the full 10 months? You will have to pay the guarantee deposit as a penalty and the year price will be regularised at an intermediate stay price.
33. How will I know that I have been admitted? A list of those persons admitted and not admitted will be published in the website www.resa.es and in the website of University of Vigo. If you are admitted, you will receive the letter of acceptance during the first days of August, along with the access codes to the users zone of the RESA website, for you to accept the accommodation contract online. In order to definitively formalise your booking, it is essential that you accept the contract online and send the documentation requested in the acceptance letter before the end of August.
34. How does the selection process work? The selection process appears on the announcement of the University of Vigo.
35. How are the monthly fees paid? By direct debit payment between the 1 and 5 of each month.
36. Do I have to include our credit card data in the booking? Yes, this is essential for the purposes of guaranteeing the booking and for covering possible penalties (annulments made with a term of less than 24 hours before the day of entering and damages to the facilities and goods of the residence hall).
